Our Path to Aviation
Aircraft property tax
deserved a closer look. And aircraft owners
deserved better.
After years of challenging inaccurate valuations on real property and business personal property, I began looking more closely at the exemptions, allocations, and other relief owners are entitled to—but often never hear about.
Aircraft became an area that was impossible to overlook.
I was seeing notices sent to the wrong addresses, personal-use aircraft being taxed as business property, and business-use aircraft valued without allowable allocations being applied. Some owners did not even know their aircraft could be subject to property tax in Texas.
By the time they realized something was wrong, some owed thousands in taxes, penalties, and interest. Others had liens on aircraft for taxes they did not know had ever been assessed.
The circumstances varied, but the underlying problem was remarkably consistent: aircraft owners were navigating a property tax system they often did not know applied to them — and small details could carry very expensive consequences.
That is why Novel expanded its aviation practice, bringing our experience in valuation, allocation, rendition, and protest to aircraft owners across Texas.
Our goal is simple: give aircraft owners the knowledge, personal attention, and skilled representation they need to navigate this often-overlooked area of property taxation.
